DAHMEN, PETER. - Historian of the missions, b. at Renland (near Trier) on 9 March 1880, he entered the Society of Jesus on 16 Sept. 1898, in order to proceed, even before completing his novitiate, to the mission of Maduré. Recalled to Europe, he elucidated the history of the great missionary Roberto de Nobili, but death overtook him (München-Gladbach, 5 Dec. 1935) before he had written the definitive biography of him that he was preparing.
