DAHMEN, PETER. - Mission historian, b. at Renland (near Trier) on 9 March 1880, he entered the Society of Jesus on 16 Sept. 1898 in order to pass, even before finishing his novitiate, into the Madurai mission. Sent back to Europe, he illustrated the history of the great missionary Roberto de Nobili, but death overtook him (Munich-Gladbach, 5 Dec. 1935) before he had written the definitive biography he was preparing.
