CUNICH, RAIMONDO. – Jesuit, born in Ragusa on 17 January 1719, died in Rome on 22 November 1794; member of the Accademia dell'Arcadia; taught rhetoric at the Collegio Romano (1768–73).
He earned praise for his Latin poems, partly collected in posthumous editions: Epigrammatum libri V (Parma 1803); Epigrammata nunc primum edita (Ragusa 1897). His elegant translations of Greek classics into Latin verse were especially esteemed: Anthologia, sive Epigrammata anthologiae Graecorum selecta (Rome 1771); Homeri Ilias versibus expressa (there 1776).
