DE CENTESIMA, SEXAGESIMA, TRICESIMA. - Among extracts from works of St. Cyprian and from his passio, an homily on the three rewards of human life is inserted in two manuscripts. According to this interpretation of Mt. 13:8, the hundredfold portion goes to the martyrs, the sixtyfold to the ascetics (agonistae) and the thirtyfold to ordinary Christians.
The anonymous author, who cites the Acts of Paul, also knows a (Gnostic) doctrine that places the Son of God alongside the 6 angels of the week of creation. The author himself is neither an Encratite, nor a Donatist, nor a Priscillianist. His dependence on St. Cyprian is evident. He probably lived in the 4th century in Africa.
