DE LAUDE MARTYRII. - A rhetorical panegyric (according to Dupin, a school exercise) in honor of martyrdom.

The work already appears in the list of Cyprian's writings (the Cheltenham list) and is attributed to St. Cyprian by Lucifer of Cagliari, but it cannot be his work, nor that of Novatian, as Harnack maintained, but rather of an unknown author in Africa who knew Cyprian's writings and who believed, in view of a great epidemic, that the end of the world was near. According to U. Koch it was written around 253.
