DEGLI ANTONI, PIETRO. – Composer, born in Bologna in 1648, died there in 1720. Maestro di cappella at S. Maria Maggiore, S. Stefano, and S. Giovanni in Monte, he served as prince of the Accademia Filarmonica six times.
In addition to much varied instrumental music, he composed: *Il S. Rocco*, oratorio on a text by G. L. Piccinardi (1670); *Messa e Salmi concertati* for three voices, two sopranos, and bass (1670); *Prigionia e morte di s. Rocco*, oratorio on a text by F. Ottavi (1671); *Il Nabal, ovvero l'ingratitudine punita*, oratorio (1682); *Sonate a violino solo con basso continuo per organo* (1686); *L'innocenza depressa*, oratorio (1686); *Mottetti sacri* for solo voice with violins, violas, or cello (1696); *Messe* three concerted works for three voices, two sopranos, and bass (1697).
