DEMANTIUS, CHRISTOPH. – Musician, born in Reichenberg in Bohemia on 15 December 1567, died in Freiberg in Saxony on 20 April 1643.

Singer, composer, theorist; he wrote a great deal of music, including a Te Deum for 6 voices; Trias precum vespertinarum; magnificats, psalms, etc., for 6 voices; Corona harmonica, motets for 6 voices; Triades Sioniae; introits and masses for 5 and 8 voices; etc. In 1592 and 1607 he published two theoretical works on musical form and art.
