DE ROSSI, GIUSEPPE. – Abbot and musician, born in Rome around the middle of the seventeenth century, where he died in 1719 or 1720. Chapel master at Castel S. Angelo, then, from March 1701 to July 1711, at the S. Casa of Loreto, and subsequently at Madonna dei Monti.
He wrote two Dixit, one for 16 and the other for 12 voices, and, among other works, a mass Solem expezo in G major for 12 voices in three choirs with organ (1676), still in manuscript and preserved in the library of the musical lyceum of Bologna. Some of his sonatas, probably written around 1730, were erroneously attributed to A. Rossi.
