GIOVANNI DE ROSSI, GIUSEPPE. — Abbot and musician, born in Rome around the mid-17th century, died there in 1719 or 1720. He was *maestro di cappella* at Castel Sant’Angelo, then from March 1701 to July 1711 at the Holy House of Loreto, and later at the Madonna dei Monti.
He composed two *Dixit Dominus*, one for 16 voices and the other for 12, and among other works, a *Missa Solem exspecto* in solo parts for 12 voices in three choirs with organ (1676), still in manuscript and preserved in the library of the Bologna music conservatory. Some of his sonatas, probably written around 1730, were mistakenly attributed to A. Rossi.
