DEMETRIANO, saint. – Bishop of Antioch, father of Domno, who later occupied the same see. D. was elected bishop in 253 and in 256 was taken prisoner and deported to Persia by Sapore I, who settled these Christians in special cities. D. governed the community of his faithful at Bendosapore, where he died after some time. His feast is on 10 November.
DEMETRIANO, saint. - Bishop of Chytri (Cyprus), born c. 830, died between 910 and 915. Married at the age of fifteen, he was widowed three months later when his wife died a virgin. D. then withdrew to the monastery of St. Anthony, near Chytri, where he shone for his sanctity and miracles. Bishop Eustathius called him to his side, ordained him a priest, and later appointed him oeconomus of the diocese. After some years, however, D. returned to the monastery and was chosen as its archimandrite. Later, he was called to govern the diocese of Chytri for twenty-five years. Already elderly, he suffered from the Arab incursions, during which he was deported along with other Catholics to Baghdad. There, he reproached the caliph for violating treaties and, after a few days, obtained permission to return to his homeland, where he was also buried. His feast is celebrated on 6 November.

2. A Christian of Ephesus, warmly commended by St. John in his letter to Gaius (3 John 12). Some have identified him with the aforementioned converted silversmith.
