DIAMANTINO

DIAMANTINO. – A prelature in the state of Mato Grosso in Brazil, suffragane of Cuiabá. It was erected by Pope Pius XI on 22 March 1929 by the apostolic constitution *Cura Universa*; the boundaries then assigned were later modified by a decree of the Sacred Consistorial Congregation on 22 June 1940. The prelature church is that of the Immaculate Conception, located in Diamantino. It is entrusted to the Company of Jesus.
