DINO, MUGELLANO. - Jurist of the 13th century. After completing his studies at Bologna, he taught law first at Pistoia, then at Bologna. In 1297 he was summoned to Rome by Boniface VIII as a collaborator in the compilation of the Decretals; not having received the cardinal's purple, he returned to Bologna to his former teaching. He died in the early years of the 1300s. Of his many writings there remain Commentaries on the Digest and Consilia, in which he demonstrates a profound originality.
