DINO, MUGELLANO. – Jurisconsult of the 13th century. Having completed his studies at Bologna, he first taught law at Pistoia, then at Bologna. In 1297 he was summoned to Rome by Bonifacio VIII as a collaborator in the compilation of the Decretals; since he had not received the cardinal’s purple, he returned to Bologna to his former teaching. He died in the early years of the 14th century. Of his many writings, Commentaries on the Digest and Consilia remain, in which he demonstrates profound originality.
