DIPLOVATACCIO, TOMMASO. – Legal scholar, born in Corfu in 1468 and died in Pesaro on 29 May 1541. He pursued legal studies at various universities in Italy, receiving his degree in Bologna.
Esteemed for his broad learning, he was called upon to hold public offices: in Pesaro he was fiscal advocate in the tribunal (1494) and later (1532) gonfaloniere; for several years he taught law in Venice. He wrote: De praestantia doctorum in twelve books: the ninth is important, as it deals diligently with the lives and works of legislators and legal scholars. It was discovered in 1748 and published in 1890 under the editorship of Pescatore.
