DURANTE, OTTAVIO. — Roman musician and theorist of the 17th century, a contemporary of Caccini and a proponent of his ideas.
In 1608 he had composed Arie devote le quali contengono in sé la maniera di cantare con grazia l’imitazione delle parole et il modo di sonar passaggi ed altri affetti, with a preface directly derived from Caccini.
