DURANTE, OTTAVIO. — A Roman musician and theorist of the 17th century, a contemporary of Caccini and an advocate of his ideas.
In 1608 he had composed *Arie devote le quali contengono in sé la maniera di cantare con grazia l'imitazione delle parole ed il modo di sonar passaggi ed altri affetti*, with a preface directly derived from Caccini.
