DURANTI, JEAN-ETIENNE

DURANTI, JEAN-ETIENNE - Liturgist, president of the Parliament of Toulouse, killed in an uprising of the Huguenots on 11 February 1589.

In his work De ritibus Ecclesiae catholicae (Rome 1591), greatly esteemed by Pope Sixtus V, he treats of all the rites and liturgical objects, according to the method of the Rationale of Durandus, though he largely sets aside its mystical explanations.
