EMANUELE DA DOMODOSSOLA

EMANUELE da DOMODOSSOLA. — Capuchin, apologetic writer, secular name Carlo Prinsecco, born on an uncertain date, died 20 April 1802. He belonged to the Roman Capuchin province and for a long time served as postulator for the causes of the Servants of God.

In addition to various hagiographic publications (notable among them a life of the Blessed Crispino da Viterbo, Rome 1761), two of his apologetic works are to be noted: *Dissertazioni in forma di dialoghi intorno a vari dogmi cattolici per discostare la loro verità contro i così detti spiriti forti* and especially *contro gli errori di Voltaire* (3 vols., Rome 1784–85); and *Della Chiesa in generale e della gerarchia ecclesiastica, dissertazioni teologiche polemiche* (in 3 vols., ibid. 1788–90).
