EMANUELE da DOMODOSSOLA. — Capuchin, apologetical writer, in the world Carlo Prinsecco, born on an uncertain date, died on 20 April 1802. He belonged to the Roman Capuchin province and for a long time was postulator of the causes of the servants of God.
In addition to various hagiographical publications (notable among them a life of b. Crispino da Viterbo, Rome 1761), his two apologetical works deserve mention: Dissertazioni in forma di dialoghi intorno a vari dogmi cattolici per dimostrare la loro verità contro li così detti spiriti forti e specialmente i seguaci degli errori di Voltaire (3 vols., Rome 1784–85); and Della Chiesa in generale e della gerarchia ecclesiastica, dissertazioni teologiche polemiche (in 3 tomes, there 1788–90).
