HENRY OF THE HOLY MARTYRS NEBEUS AND ACHILLES. - Cardinal, of the Moricotti family of Pisa, d. in Rome in 1179. Having become a monk at Clairvaux, he was a disciple of St. Bernard, then abbot of the monastery of Sts. Vincent and Anastasius at the Tre Fontane (Rome) and in 1150 created cardinal by Eugene III. By Adrian IV he was entrusted with various diplomatic missions to William of Sicily and to the emperor Frederick I. In 1150 he supported the election of Alexander III against Victor IV and was then sent as legate to France and England, where he advised St. Thomas of Canterbury to accept that episcopal see.
