ENRICO da RIMINI. - Dominican theologian,
b. at Rimini, d. ca. 1314. He entered the Dominicans
of his city. He appears to have been a reader in theology.
He and Gregorio da Cattaro, each with a fellow friar,
received permission to reside at the court of the Serbian
king Uros I, whose wife was Elena di Valois, a Catholic.
The religious had the task of serving as advisers should
the king take steps toward ecclesiastical union.
Bibliographers attribute the following works to E.:
Tractatus de quattuor virtutibus cardinalibus ad cives
Venetiae (Spina 1472 or 1473); Quodlibetis caria theologica;
Tractatus de septem capitibus iuncanis. The treatises De po-
litia Venetiarum and De nobilitate et politia Venetiarum ap-
pear to be parts or alternative titles of the Tractatus de quattuor virtu-
tibus cardinalibus.
E.’s doctrinal sources are pre-Thomistic; various
descriptions and ethical-social doctrines are significant for
the history of morality and culture.
