HENRY OF EGWINT. — Dominican mystic of the 14th century, called in documents Eckebunt, Eckwint, Ekevindun, Hecpont. Four of his sermons survive in a manuscript from Einsiedeln, along with another falsely attributed to Meister Eckhart. For the depth of his ideas, the richness of his imagery, and the abundance of his concepts, he reveals himself as a disciple of Meister Eckhart. On 21 September 1317 he appears as prior of Würzburg, and on 20 June 1318 as prior of Regensburg. In this capacity, together with two confrères, he is appointed procurator of the papal collectors. On 11 July he again held the priorate of Regensburg.
