HENRY OF EGWINT. - Dominican mystic of the 14th century, called in documents Eckebant, Eckewind, Ekewind, Heepont. Four sermons of his survive in a manuscript of Einsiedeln, along with another falsely attributed to Meister Eckhart. For the depth of his ideas, for his language rich in images and for his accumulation of concepts, H. reveals himself a disciple of Meister Eckhart. On Sept. 21, 1317 he appears as prior of Würzburg, on June 29, 1318 as prior of Regensburg. In this capacity, together with two confreres, he is named procurator of the papal collectors. On July 11 he again held the priory of Regensburg.
