Two periods: 1) from 1929-30 (vol. I) to 1936 (vol. VIII). Principal contributors: Colunga, Bover, Murillo, Santos Olivera, Herranz, etc.; 2) from 1941-42 (vol. I) onward (continuing). In this second period the journal is the joint organ of AFEBE and of the Istituto Francesco Suárez (of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas). Important studies on the history of the Vulgate in Spain were begun as early as the first period. Besides the principal contributors of the first period, Ayuso, Enciso, Prado, Asensio, Larrañaga, Orbiso, Llamas, M. Iglesias, Pazo, etc., deserve mention.
This publication should not be confused with the « Revista Española de Estudios Bíblicos », founded and published at Malaga by the learned layman d. Eduardo Felipe Fernández from 1926 (vol. I) and discontinued in 1929 (vol. IV), of interest especially for works on the history of exegesis in Spain. Raffaele Criado
