BIBLICAL STUDIES. - Organ of the A(ssociation for the) F(urtherance of) B(iblical) E(studies in) S(pain), Madrid. A quarterly publication of biblical research.
Two periods: 1) from 1929-30 (vol. I) to 1936 (vol. VIII). Principal contributors: Colunga, Bover, Murillo, Santos Olivera, Herranz, etc.; 2) from 1941-42 (vol. I) onward (continues). In this second period the journal is the common organ of the AFEBE and of the Francisco Suárez Institute (of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas). Significant studies on the history of the Vulgate in Spain were begun already in the 1st period. Besides the principal contributors of the 1st period, Ayuso, Enciso, Prado, Asensio, Larrañaga, Orbiso, Llamas, M. Iglesias, Pazo, etc. are praised.
This publication must not be confused with the « Revista Española de Estudios Bíblicos », founded and published by the learned layman Don Eduardo Felipe Fernández in Malaga from 1926 (vol. I) and ceased in 1929 (vol. IV), of interest especially for works on the history of exegesis in Spain.
