ECCLESIASTICAL STUDIES. - Journal that appeared in Madrid in 1922, still ongoing through the work of the philosophical and theological colleges of the Society of Jesus in Spain: Comillas, Oña, Sarriá and Granada. It presented itself as a splinter from Ramón y Fe, in the same way that the Recherches de science religieuse had splintered from Études.
It deals with theology, Sacred Scripture, canon law, ecclesiastical history, and until 1944 also with philosophy, now excluded after the founding of Pensamiento (Madrid, since 1943). Especially noteworthy is the special issue of 1948 on Suárez, with an extensive retrospective and prospective bibliographical review. Michele Baffari
