FILIPOVIĆ, SIMEONE. - Francesco, born in Seonica in Bosnia on 30 September 1732 to a most pious family, died in Ripatransone (Italy) on 9 May 1802. He studied in Italy and, upon returning to Bosnia, for more than 20 years zealously attended to the care of souls in various Franciscan parishes during the successful oppression of the Turks, who were enraged by the defeats they had suffered in the wars of 1683–1713, in which the Catholics of Bosnia had also participated.
In 1782 he returned to Ripatransone, where he lived until his death in silence and penance. The fame of his holiness, which quickly spread among the people, is continually confirmed by numerous heavenly favors attributed to his intercession. The process of beatification is underway.
