Franciscan Daughters of the Most Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary

FRANCESCANE FIGLIE DEI S.MI CUORI DI GERÙ E MARIA. – They were founded by Mother Chiara Pfander (1827–82) at Olpe (Germany) in 1860. The mother house is now at Salakotten. The institute’s life is perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and its purpose is assistance in hospitals. They have many houses in Germany, in the United States (since 1873), in Holland (since 1875), and missions on the island of Sumatra. Divided into four provinces, they have 111 houses with 2,302 religious sisters.
