FRANCISCAN SISTERS DAUGHTERS OF THE MOST SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY. - They were founded by Mother Chiara Pfander (1827-82) at Olpe (Germany) in 1860. The mother house is now at Salakotten. The life of the institute is perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and its purpose is assistance in hospitals. They have many houses in Germany, in the United States (since 1873), in Holland (since 1875), and missions on the island of Sumatra. Divided into 4 provinces, they have 111 houses with 2302 religious.
