MISSIONARY FRANCISCANS OF SAINT JOSEPH. - They were founded by Mother Alice Inghan, or, at the insistence of Cardinal Vaughan, in 1874 they moved to Mill Hill, where they collaborate closely with the missionary fathers of the Society of that place.

They devote themselves to the education of youth and to the care of the sick. Since 1885 they have been in the mission of northern Borneo; since 1891 in Holland and in Ireland; they also have houses in the United States. In 1926 the congregation was aggregated to the Franciscan Order, and in 1930 it became of pontifical right. At present it has 37 houses with 314 religious.
