From Persia he went in 1680 to the Indian missions of Surat and Pondicherry; a skilled linguist, he composed an esteemed *Thesaurus Thaisingae Indiandae* (= Hindostanica), which is preserved, though unwritten, in the Archive of the Propaganda Fide. He also took part in the controversies with the Jesuit missionaries of Pondicherry regarding the Malabar rites with a memorandum sent in 1703 to the aforesaid Congregation: *Quae stions... sur les cérémonies Payennes...* (Liège 1704). For his linguistic expertise, he accompanied the first expedition of Capuchin missionaries to Tibet, reaching Lhasa on 12 June 1707; worn out by hardships, he was forced to leave this mission in January 1709.
