FRANGIPANI, OTTAVIO MIRTO. – Bishop of Caiazzo and archbishop of Taranto, died in 1612. On 13 June 1587 he was sent by Sixtus V as nuncio to Germany, with his seat in Cologne.
During this assignment he reformed the archdiocese of Cologne and had to intervene in the theological disputes at Leuven. In 1596 he was entrusted with the new nunciature established in Brussels. In 1605, as a reward for his long services, he received the archbishopric of Taranto, which he took possession of the following year.
