FRANGIPANI, OTTAVIO MIRTO. — Bishop of Caiazzo and Archbishop of Taranto, b. in 1612. On 13 June 1587 he was sent by Sixtus V as nuncio to Germany, with his seat in Cologne.

During this assignment he reformed the archdiocese of Cologne and had to intervene in the theological disputes at Louvain. In 1596 he was entrusted with the new nunciature established in Brussels. In 1603, in reward for his long services, he was given the archbishopric of Taranto, of which he took possession the following year.
