Giuseppe Fumagalli. Bibliographer, born in Florence on 27 July 1863, died there on 11 May 1939. He directed the Biblioteca Braidense in Milan, the Estense in Modena, and the University Library in Bologna; he founded the Istituto italiano del libro and was among the patrons of the Società bibliografica italiana.
His principal works are: *Bibliotheca bibliographica italica* (written in collaboration with G. Ottino; Rome 1889 and 1893); *Lexicon typographicum Italiae* (Florence 1905; still useful today, though lacking in scholarly rigor and containing some errors, despite the Addenda and corrections published in Florence in 1939; today it has been supplemented by M. Parenti, *Nuova giunta al Lexicon*, etc., Milan 1941, and id., *Seconda giunta*, Florence 1949); *Bibliografia* (Milan 1916; a complete revision of G. Ottino’s manual of bibliography; 4th ed. revised by O. Pinto, 1933).
