FURLANETTO, BONAVENTURA. — Musician, born in Venice on 27 May 1738, died there on 6 April 1817. A pupil of Formenti and Bolla, he taught at the Ospedale della Pietà; in 1794 he was given the provisional post, and in 1797 the definitive one, of maestro di cappella at St Mark’s, succeeding Bertoni. From 1811 he was professor of counterpoint at the Istituto filarmonico in Venice.
Among his numerous sacred compositions there survive some masses, hymns, oratorios (La Sposa di Sacri Cantici, Tobia, Il voto di Iefte, etc.), a four-part Kyrie with orchestra, a three-part Confitebor with orchestra, nine lessons for Holy Week, introits, psalms and cantatas.
