GARCIA, NICHOLAS. - Spanish canonist of the first half of the 17th century (d. 1645). In Avila, his native city, he was canon of the Cathedral and professor of canon law. He resided for three years in Rome.
He is known for his classic Tractatus de beneficis (Sara-gazza 1609, etc.), repeatedly republished and considered the most complete and erudite treatise of its kind in the pre-CIC canonistic literature.
