GARCIA, NICOLA. — Spanish canonist of the first half of the seventeenth century (d. in 1645). In Avila, his native city, he was a canon of the cathedral and professor of canon law. He resided for three years in Roma.
He is known for his classic Tractatus de beneficiis (Saragozza 1609, etc.), republished several times and regarded in its field as the most complete and erudite treatise of the canonistic literature preceding the CIC.
