GIELEMANS, JOHANNES. — Born in 1427, he entered in 1447 the priory of the Canons Regular of St Augustine of Rubea Valle (Rooklooster) near Brussels and was ordained a priest in 1464. For many years, until his death in 1487, he was subprior.
He is known as a copyist and above all as a hagiographer: Sanctilogium (4 vols., 1470–80); Novale Sanctorum (2 vols., 1483–85); Hagiologium Brabantiorum (2 vols., 1476–84). He did not, however, display a great critical sense.
