GIELEMANS, JOHANNES. — Born in 1427, he entered in 1447 the priory of the Augustinian Canons Regular of Saint Augustine at Rubea Valle (Rooklooster) near Brussels and was ordained priest in 1464. For many years, until his death in 1487, he served as subprior.
He is known as a scribe and especially as a hagiographer: *Sanctiologium* (4 vols., 1470–80); *Novale Sanctorum* (2 vols., 1483–85); *Hagiologium Brabantinorum* (2 vols., 1476–84). He does not, however, display great critical judgment.
