JEROME OF CREMONA. - Lombard painter active between 1467 and 1483, at first under the influence of local miniaturists, and then of Mantegna and of Liberale da Verona.

His works on panel are few, among which the Salvatore con quattro santi in the cathedral of Viterbo (1472) is typical; numerous, on the other hand, are the miniatures, executed by him for the cathedral of Mantua and for the Library of the cathedral of Siena; some are also preserved in foreign museums. G. da C. attempted to transfer into the pre-eminently analytical technique of the miniaturists the manners of grand painting, not without swelling of contours and of masses, but displaying notable gifts of invention and a deep and brilliant coloring.
