GOFFREDO di POITIERS (Gaufridus Pictaviensis). — Scholastic theologian, died c. 1225. A pupil of Stefano Langton, he taught at the University of Paris in the early years of the thirteenth century. In 1221 he was together with Guglielmo di Auxerre at the court of Gregorio IX, charged with the reform of studies.
He wrote an extensive Summa theologica, probably between 1212 and 1215, which shows a strong dependence on Stefano Langton and Roberto de Courçon (unpublished). It deals especially with the problems of the virtues and sin.
