GOFFREDO of SAINT-VICTOR. – Philosopher, born in the early decades of the 12th century, died in 1194. Particular biographical details are lacking.
He wrote: *Fons philosophiae*, which is a classification of the sciences with an indication of the ancient philosophical sources (Plato, Aristotle, Boethius, Macrobius, etc.). In the same work there are valuable historical accounts of the various solutions to the problem of universals; *De microcosmo* (Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, ms. lat. 14.515), a philosophical-ascetical work in which the Platonism of Chartres and the dialectic of Abelard are fused with the mysticism of the School of Saint-Victor.
