GRAVELBOURG, DIOCESE OF. - A city and diocese in Canada, erected on 31 January 1930 by Pope Pius XI with the apostolic constitution *Universa Christi fidelium cura*.
The diocese covers 19,695 sq km; it has 126,000 inhabitants, of whom 18,500 are Catholics, distributed in 36 parishes, 28 missions with chapels and 9 without chapels, served by 42 diocesan priests and 27 religious; there are two male and eleven female religious communities (1949). The diocese is a suffragan of Regina; the cathedral is dedicated to St. Philomena.
