HENNEGUIER, JÉRÔME. – Dominican theologian, born at St-Omer in 1663, died there on 13 March 1712.
Master of theology in 1678, he founded a theological school at Cambrai (1675); he was prior at Tournai (1672) and at St-Omer (1686–89). An acute theologian and polemicist, he wrote: Vanitas triumphorum (Douai 1670), on the problem of physical promotion; Cultus Mariae vindicatus adversus monitorem anonymum (St-Omer 1674), Dissertatio theologica de absolutione sacramentali percipienda et impertienda (there 1682), against the Jansenist rigorism of Gilbert de Choiseul, bishop of Tournai.
