**GRANELLO, Tommaso Maria.** - Dominican theologian, born in Bologna on 22 August 1840, died in Rome on 24 March 1911.
He received the Dominican habit in Rome (20 October 1860), but due to the political events of 1866, he was forced to take refuge in France. Upon his return to Italy, he taught in Florence, Bologna, and Ferrara (1876), where he served as master of novices. He founded and directed for several years (1884–95) the journal *Il Rosario. Memorie domenicane*. He was a companion to the commissioner of the Holy Office (1885–96), later becoming commissioner himself (1897) and titular archbishop of Seleucia (1897). Among his many books, the following are notable: *Vita di S. Domenico* (Ferrara 1876); *S. Pio V* (2 vols., Bologna 1877–78); *Alcune pagine sulla vita di S. Caterina da Siena* (Ferrara 1880); *Meditazioni su alcune virtù di S. Caterina da Siena* (ibid. 1880).
