MEMORIE DOMENICANE. - It is the oldest Dominican journal in Italy. Founded in 1884 in Ferrara, at the initiative of Fr. Tommaso Granello, later Archbishop and Commissioner of the Holy Office, under the title—which indicated its program—of *Il Rosario*. From 1895 to 1930, Fr. C. Becchi served as its director, and from 1931 to 1948, Fr. A. Zucchi. Faithful to its program, it promoted the development of devotion to the Rosary and the historical, literary, and artistic knowledge of the Dominicans, particularly in Italy.
Among its most illustrious contributors were Cardinals Zigliara, Mauri, Bausa, and Pierotti; numerous bishops; and Frs. Berthier, Mandonnet, Cordovani, Walz, Käppeli, and Meersseman. In 1926, it split into two journals: *Il Rosario*, which began a new life of its own, and *Memorie Domenicane*, which continued to illustrate the history, art, and literature of the Order in Italy, often supplementing articles with plates outside the text. After the interruption of 1944–45 due to the war, the journal is now published quarterly.
