HIBERNON, ANDRÉS, blessed. — Franciscan, born in 1534 at Alcantarilla near Murcia, died on 18 April 1602. In 1556, having suffered a robbery that revealed to him the vanity of wealth, he entered as a lay brother the convent of Albacete, from which in 1563, in order to follow the reform of St Peter of Alcántara, he transferred to that of Elche, where he lived with St Paschal Baylon. From 1591 he was in the convent of St Roch in Gandia, where he met Blessed Giovanni de Ribera, archbishop of Valencia, who became his very dear friend. He was a man of profound humility and assiduous prayer. Pius VI declared him blessed in 1791. Feast day: 18 April.
