IAHEL (Hebr. Jēh'ēl). — Name of several biblical figures.
In addition to a son of King Iosaphat (II Par. 21:2) and an overseer of the “house of God” in the time of King Iosia (ibid. 35:8), three Levites bore this name: one belonging to the harp players (I Par. 15:18, 20; 16:5); another from the family of Gerson (ibid. 23), charged with collecting contributions for the Temple (ibid. 28:8), perhaps to be distinguished from I., son of a Hachamonite, counsellor of the King (ibid. 27:32); and a third who took part in the purification of the Temple at the beginning of the reign of Ezechia (II Par. 29:13) V.
