ISHO'DAD OF MERW — Nestorian bishop of Hêdattâ. Born at Merw, he lived in the 9th century.
Drawing inspiration from Theodore of Mopsuestia, he composed commentaries on the Old and New Testaments, one of the most important works produced by the Nestorians. His commentary on the Gospels has been published and translated into English: M. D. Gibson, *The Commentaries of Isho'dad of Meru*, Cambridge 1911–13.
