IŠŌ'DĀD DI MERW

Also known as: Isho'dad of Merv, Ishodad of Merv, Ishoʿdad of Merv

IŠŌ'DĀD of MERW. - Nestorian bishop of Hēdattā. Born at Merw, he lived in the 9th century.

Inspired by Theodore of Mopsuestia, he wrote a commentary on the Old and New Testaments, one of the most important that we have from the Nestorians. The one on the Gospels has been published and translated into English: M. D. Gibon, The commentaries of Isho'dad of Merw, Cambridge 1911-13.
