IŠŌ'DĒNAḤ. - Nestorian metropolitan of Bāšrā, who lived in the 9th century.
He composed the Book of Chastity, that is, a florilegium of brief biographies of ascetics who flourished in Persia and Mesopotamia, and an Ecclesiastical History in 3 parts, known only in fragments. Other works of a different nature are also attributed to I., but they are of lesser importance.
