YVETTE (Iutta, Ida, Ita) of Huy, Blessed. - Widow and recluse, b. at Huy near Leiden in 1158, d. there on 13 January 1228. Even as a girl she was distinguished for her piety, modesty, mortification and patience in adversity.

By her father's will, while still very young she contracted marriage and had three children. Left a widow after 5 years, she refused a second marriage and remained free for works of charity and the service of lepers. When one of the three children died and another entered the Cistercians, she settled the third and had herself enclosed in the Cistercian monastery of Orval, where she became famous for her virtues and for the gifts of reading hearts and of prophecy. Her sanctity was attested after death by numerous miracles attributed to her intercession.
