THE JOURNAL OF THEOLOGICAL STUDIES. - Quarterly review of Protestant theology, published by the Oxford University Press in England for professors and students of theology. It first appeared in 1900 with the aim of providing a scholarly periodical entirely devoted to theological and biblical studies.
It includes articles on positive theology and biblical questions, especially textual ones; it also contains discussions and Christian documents of historical value. The first editorial committee included the Regius Professor of Divinity and the Professor of Hebrew Language at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and the journal maintains close ties with these two universities. Among recent editors are G. S. Driver and, since 1949, R. H. Lightfoot.
