JOURNAL OF THEOLOGICAL STUDIES. – Quarterly journal of Protestant theology, published by Oxford University Press in England for professors and students of theology. It first appeared in 1900 with the aim of providing a scholarly periodical devoted entirely to theological and biblical studies.
It includes articles on positive theology and biblical questions, especially textual ones; it also contains discussions and Christian documents of historical value. The first editorial committee included the «regius» professor of Divinity and the professor of Hebrew at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and the journal maintains close relations with these two Universities. Among its more recent editors, G. S. Driver and, since 1949, R. H. Lightfoot should be mentioned.
