PONTIFICAL LAW. - Title of the quarterly journal, founded in Rome in 1921 by the priest Alberto Toso (author of an appreciated commentary on the CIC), having as its subject the treatment of canonistic topics; it therefore had as its subtitle: seu ephemerides Urbanae ad canonicas disciplinas spectantes. Among the periodicals of this field, which arose after the promulgation of the CIC, it distinguished itself by its highly scientific approach and by the broad collaboration of foreign canonists, as well as of canonists of the Roman Curia.
It suspended publication after vol. XX (1940), because of the difficulties arising from the war; and it was never resumed, since in the meantime (13 Aug. 1946) the founder had died, who had directed it from the very beginning.
