LAMBRECHT, Henry-Charles. - Belgian theologian and bishop, b. 1848, d. at Ghent on 2 July 1889.
Having graduated at Louvain in 1875 with the well-known thesis: *De S. Missae sacrificio* (Louvain 1875), two years later he obtained the chair of dogmatic theology at the Seminary of Ghent. He published an extensive commentary on the Mechlin Catechism: *Verklaring van den Mechelschen Catechismus* (3 vols., Ghent 1882), a veritable theological summa for intellectuals, which rendered great service to all the dioceses of Belgium. Having become bishop of Ghent in 1887, he printed the treatises delivered in his school: *De Gratia* (ibid. 1887); *De Incarnatione* (ibid. 1888); *De novissimis* (ibid. 1889). He left various works in manuscript.
