LAMBRECHT, HENRY-CHARLES. - Belgian theologian and bishop, b. in 1848, d. at Gand on 2 July 1889.
Having graduated at Lovanio in 1875 with the well-known thesis: De S.mo Missae sacrificio (Lovanio 1875), two years later he obtained the chair of dogmatic theology at the Seminary of Gand. He published an extensive commentary on the catechism of Malines: Verklaring van den Mechelschen Catechismus (3 vols., Gand 1882), a veritable summa theologica for intellectuals, which rendered great service to all the dioceses of Belgium. Having become bishop of Gand in 1887, he printed the treatises developed in the school: De Gratia (ibid. 1887); De Incarnatione (ibid. 1888); De novissimis (ibid. 1889). He left various manuscript works.
