LAPINI, ANNA MARIA. - Born in Florence on 27 May 1809, died there on 15 April 1860. Her religious vocation, opposed in her youth, was able to be realized after her marriage, which was full of suffering and misunderstandings.
In 1856 L. founded in Florence the Institute of the Sisters of the Holy Stigmata for the care of poor and abandoned girls, following the Rule of the Third Order of St. Francis. She lived in extreme poverty and bore with resignation atrocious physical sufferings, misunderstandings and hostility, especially at the hands of the director of her Institute. The cause for her beatification has been introduced.
