LAPINI, ANNA MARIA

LAPINI, Anna Maria. - Born in Florence on 27 May 1809, died there on 15 April 1860. Her religious vocation, opposed in her youth, was able to be realized after her marriage, which was full of suffering and misunderstanding.

In 1856, L. founded in Florence the Institute of the Sisters of the Holy Stigmata for the care of poor and abandoned girls, following the Rule of the Third Order of St. Francis. She lived in extreme poverty and endured with resignation terrible physical sufferings, misunderstandings, and hostilities, especially from the director of her Institute. The cause for her beatification has been introduced.
