LEONE VI, EMPEROR OF THE EAST, called the SAPIENT. — Greek emperor (886–916). He deposed the patriarch Fazio in 886, and, on the occasion of the question of the Tetragamy, the patriarch Nicola, called the Mystic. L. is the author of juridical texts or laws and of sermons, among them the discourse in memory of his father Basilio.
