READINGS. - A monthly book-review journal, entrusted to the Jesuits by the Archbishop of Milan in 1945, and begun in 1946.

Through timely notices of works of fiction, literature, art, theater, history, science, philosophy, pedagogy and religion, with special attention to books of the broadest popular appeal, and while summarizing their content, it applies special and vigilant care to expressing a moral judgment as guidance, in order to recommend or warn against the reading of them. It likewise intends to stimulate a narrative art, literary in style and formative in content, that can compete with the works of storytellers of a different orientation.
