MARRACCI, IPPOLITO. - Mariologist, born at Lucca on 17 January 1604 and died at Rome in S. Maria in Campitelli on 18 May 1675; a religious of the Congregation of the Clerics Regular of the Mother of God.
According to the manuscript biography by his brother Luigi, he composed 115 works, of which 31 were published. Notable among these are those that gather information on Marian writings and authors: *Pontifices maximi mariani* (Rome 1642), *Apostoli mariani* (ibid. 1643), *Reges mariani* (ibid. 1654), *Fundatores mariani* (ibid. 1643), *Purpura mariana* (ibid. 1654), *Antistites mariani* (ibid. 1656), *Caesares mariani* (ibid. 1656). Also: *Bibliotheca mariana* (2 vols., ibid. 1648), a collection of bibliographical data on more than 3,000 authors and over 6,000 works; *Polyanthea mariana* (Cologne 1683) with an appendix of another 1,000 authors.
