« MARTYR DEI VENANTIUS ». – Hymn of Vespers for the feast of s. Venantius, by an unknown author, inserted into the Breviary by Clement X in 1670 together with the feast of the young martyr of Camerino.
It is a brief narrative poem recounting the deeds of the Saint, who suffered atrocious torments for his faith. No poetic breath inspires these stanzas, but the account of the martyrdom arouses profound admiration.
