« MATRIS SUB ALMAE NUMINE ». Hymn of Vespers for the feast of the Seven Holy Founders, of its own kingdom, composed in the 18th century and corrected by Monsignor V. Tarozzi, secretary to Leo XIII for Latin letters, when in 1888 they were canonized and the feast was extended to the Universal Church.
It sings of the pious death of the seven noble Florentines who, abandoning earthly comforts, withdrew to Monte Senario where they founded the Order of the Servants of Mary. The last three strophes are a humble prayer that these blessed possessors of heavenly glory may obtain, through the sorrows of the Virgin, peace of heart. The final doxology is addressed to the Most Holy Trinity that it may grant the grace to follow the example of the Fathers.
