MINISTRE DEGLI INFERMI. — The Institute was founded in 1819 in Lucca through the work of the servant of God Domenica Brun-Barbantini, and was approved by the local Ordinary in 1841. The following year it was affiliated with the Camillian Order, which had also inspired the foundress in compiling the Rules.
It received the decree of praise in 1852 and the approval of the Institute and the temporary approval of the Constitutions in 1929. The Constitutions were then definitively approved on 3 August 1937.
Its purpose is the exercise of works of charity toward the sick, both in hospitals and in private homes; the care of elderly persons in institutions and of wayward girls.
The Institute consists of about one hundred sisters distributed among 9 houses.
